The Farm is an ongoing body of work that highlights the hardships of life on a small-scale Cornish farm, from the blurred first-person perspective of both animals and humans. In a world desensitised to death as a result of the industrialisation of our food, it is imperative to touch base with the sources of our produce every once in a while. The project represents the communities of farmers around the world that show compassion and love for their livestock, and honest realism when it comes to the slaughter.

The Farm depicts the journey of a couple with almost no commercial aspirations and a love for fresh, organic food. This pocket of land holds some ‘outdated values’, and if these were values shared amongst us when approaching topics around farmyard animal welfare, it is possible to minimise the challenges they face in the Anthropocene.

Locality and small-scale agriculture are solutions to the very present issues surrounding climate change and the increasing worries about food security in the UK. In this book you will see a timeless place with no sense of order. A place of compassion and occasional brutality, but never cruelty.
